Very little, apart from a
commitment to lead a healthier and fitter lifestyle.
It is advisable to attend
class on an empty stomach. If this is difficult, a cup of tea
or coffee, milk or fruit juice may be taken beforehand. Allow
one hour to elapse before class after a light meal and three
hours to pass after a heavy meal.
Clothing should be loose
fitting and light and should not restrict the abdomen (n0
belts). Jogging-suits, tracksuits and leotards are ideal, as
are leggings and tee shirts. It is best to work with bare feet
to avoid slipping, but have a pair of socks and a warm sweater
handy for the relaxation period.
Do not wear heavy jewellery
and if you have long hair, it is sensible to tie it back.
Sleeping bags and heavy blankets
are not permitted in class.
If you follow the
instructions given carefully and if you have taken into
consideration any medical problems you may have, it is not
possible to injure yourself by performing Yoga postures. If
you have a medical condition, or if one develops, you must
inform your Instructor/Teacher.
It usually takes about six
lessons to begin to feel the effects of Yoga, however, some
people benefit much sooner.
